TRDL - Iron Man Bleeding Edge by TRDLcomics TRDL - Iron Man Bleeding Edge by TRDLcomics
TRDL 2011 Series No. 49 Ė Iron Man [Bleeding Edge Armor]
OK, the armor I dreaded drawing the most. Itís the most complex, itís the most arbitrary, and itís the least well documented, as each artist who has attempted it has come to different conclusions about what goes where. I actually drew this some weeks ago, as a warm-up / design study prior to the Battle Royale Iím now underway in over at Outcast. Anyway, take a look and feel my pain, and hopefully, enjoy it!
The process notes and step by step looks at the work belowÖ

I had to draw it too many times for that Battle Royale competition! Tough design!

i agree! ironman is one of those least defined characters in terms of his suit and gear so everyone tends to get his own ideas around it. I like your take on it though.. its geometrical!! and it does look bloody tough!

I think some of the designs in the modern period worked better than others. But there's a reason the classic red and yellow MK III lasted so long (aside from being the most superhero-spandexy)... it was very simply and clearly defined. If you look at my Iron Man series, where I'm drawing every armor as well as those of foes and such, sometimes i've treated it as a redesign. In a few cases, I've pretty broadly refined the armor design, and in others, just a few tweaks.

Actually, I'm engaged in the Battle Royale competition on Outcast and #fightclub and I'm using this challenging Bleeding Edge armor as my participant in the battles. Perhaps I'll simplify the design for the next round, just for fun.
