Description

TRDL 2012 Series, No. 04 – Spazierend Panzers Type B [TRDL Commission]

Part 2 of 4

This was one of three mecha designs developed for one of my long-term clients for his original supers gaming universe. Think WWII-era mecha. We put a lot into debating how to give modern mecha design an old-timey feel appropriate for the 40s based largely on German artillery, tank and other equipment designs. It was a fun project, and I actually went to the library for the first time since college (14 years or so!) though ultimately most of my refs came from the supernet after all.
The Spazierend Panzer Type B is the medium class mecha in the series. I gave it a bipedal backwards-leg stance as a homage to the old Macross designs (and by extension, Robotech and Battletech) and a dual pilot cockpit. Two long arms end in pincers for anti-infantry melee attacks, and the ballistic weapons include a 50mm PAK and an MG34 MG.

Looks cool. However the correct grammar for the German name would be "Spazierender Panzer". Also "spazieren" rather means something along "going for a nice walk" then "walking" in German. So it does not sound very intimidating. Maybe you should switch the name to "Marschierender Panzer" which means "marching Tank". Sounds more aggressive.
