Trdl1422 Halloween2014z

This one was the latest entry in our admittedly intermittent TRDL Holiday series... Joao and I have been busier than ever this year so I think this is our first collaboration in all of 2014. We've been doing pinup grrrls for a few years now in these illustrations, so this year the concept was X-Men dressed as classic Halloween character imagery. He chose Rogue (as sort of a Styx Boatman slash skeleton) and I chose Psylocke as an old-school vampire.

I'll let Joao speak to his piece in the comments. For mine, I had a few references. First off, I was inspired by a striking photo of pinup model (and talented makeup artist) Cherry Dollface as photographed by Travis Haight. You can check out that photo in the progress refs below. Also, while I looked at a lot of classic vampire imagery, from Nosferatu to modern era interpretations, I fell into a hole looking at horrible halloween costumes and was inspired by this kid's dracula costume, and went with that. I don't even know what drew me to it. I think it was the vest.
